Most people confuse the two terms: development and growth. These terms are often used interchangeably. This misconception has an enormous impact on society in terms of political, economic, societal, and even environmental aspects/sides?. Therefore, it is important to know the differences between these two terms and judge social, political, and economic mobility accordingly.

However, this should not give the impression that development and growth are unattached from each other. They have a deep connection and complement each other. In other words, the former follows the latter, but the latter does not only contribute to the prosperity of society but exacerbates the situation, if the former is not an end. In this manner, this paper aims to shed light on the differences and correlation between development and growth. Meanwhile, the pros and cons regarding these terms will be analyzed and it will be answered for the question of why growth and development should be the means and end, respectively.
